Linux Mint 10 основан на Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, использует возможности ядра Linux 2.6.35, X,нет 7.5, а также GNOME 2.32. В новой версии изменился интерфейс, в частности,стартовое меню, а экран приветствия теперь позволяет сразу установить дополнительные проприетарные кодеки или же обновить дистрибутив до полной DVD-версии. Улучшен менеджер обновлений – он показывает размер скачиваемых пакетов и позволяет игнорировать их. Имеется также множество более мелких дополнений и улучшений. Дистрибутив распространяется под лицензией GPL в виде образов установочных дисков для архитектур х86 и AMD64.
